Growing up on 400 acres in the middle of nowhere, dressed in thrift store clothes and bare feet, I was about as far from “fancy” as one could be. Entering adulthood with a failed education, learning disabilities and no money, it lead me to a string of odd jobs. Working at a homeless shelter, cleaning houses, cutting grass….you name it. I eventually landed a job at a five-star resort as an executive assistant (I know, how did that happen?). A few years later I decided to apprentice with my family’s Interior Design business which lead me to a 15+ year career in Interior Design and Renovations.
The one thing all of my jobs have in common (minus the grass cutting) is I have worked with many different people over the years. Thus gaining the knowledge that it’s not about the job you are doing but rather than learning about people.
At 46 and having raised three daughters, I took a huge leap out of my comfort zone. I took culinary classes in Paris and attended The English Manner and Beaumont Etiquette’s Train the Trainer program, where I graduated with merit as an Etiquette Coach.
My goal is to share how learning etiquette has improved my life, my confidence, my desire to make others feel wonderful. Etiquette doesn’t have to be an intimidating word and you don’t have to come from a certain class, have a certain education or be a certain age to learn it.
